My Approach to Wedding Photography on your special day

Your wedding day will bring happy tears, sad tears, butterflies, and joy in equal measures & on a whole new level. This can be both exciting & overwhelming all at once. I will be there to guide you through all the chapters of your day to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Just think of me as a bonus bridesmaid who can carry your comfy shoes, repin your veil on a gusty cliff and hand you a tissue (or a glass of bubbles!) whenever you need it.

Before your Wedding Day

The job of choosing your wedding photographer is not just about the final images, it is about your experience on the day and in the months leading up to your big day as you check things off your wedding checklist. Our journey begins with a chat where we get to know each other, where I can learn all about your love story & tell it in the best way possible.

We will plan a little site visit to your venue so that we can walk the grounds and choose the perfect location for images. This takes all the mystery out of the shoot on the day, on this visit we can sit down and plan out the timeline, from when hair and makeup kicks off to when & where we will take the family photographs.

The Wedding Day

I love to arrive at least 2 hours before the ceremony to capture all the little details, from the bride’s shoes, wedding dress and bouquet to the hair, make up & champagne popping. All the special details that make your wedding unique to you. If the groom is close by it is really nice to capture the boys in the morning also as well as any pets that may be part of your little family.

During the Wedding Service

I always ensure to arrive to the ceremony venue early to meet with the priest/ celebrant in advance. I like to capture all the candid moments from your service in a stealth manner, allowing the ceremony to flow naturally.  I will always have the best angles to capture that beautiful isle shoot, the exchange of rings and of course, the first kiss.

Couple & Family Portraits

The bulk of your images will be candid, documentary images but I truly believe that family photos are extremely important at weddings. I also know that you do not want to be kidnapped for ages, so we plan a list of essential group shots in advance. I hijack a groomsman or a bridesmaid to help rally the troops and we turn them around quick smart, getting you back to the main event with a glass of bubbles in your hand in record time.

Your couple shoot

I pride myself on turning around ‘couple shots’ very quickly. We will have done our recce together at the venue in advance and will have decided on the location of the ‘wow’ shots. Many couples can be nervous about the idea of posed photos, I hear this all the time and I do not want you to worry one little bit. This is totally normal and I can promise you that you will surprise yourself. My couple images are not at all stiff, in fact, many of my couples have told me that in hindsight the ‘couple shoot’ was the highlight of their day. (After actually tying the knot of course!)
